In what is probably my final MCM property post for the year, I thought I’d go with a Summer holiday theme and have a look at this great MCM home in Rosebud.
While Rosebud is now just an extension of the suburbs of Melbourne and a quick trip down Peninsula Link, it is still just far enough away to maintain the charm of a Summer getaway destination.
Maybe it’s the vibrant blue of the weatherboards!
There is a simple layout that is typical of coastal beach homes. The front door opens straight into the living room and bedrooms lead straight from that main room.
The kitchen has room for a dining table and is the perfect place for the family to enjoy their toast before heading down to the beach for the day without a care in the world!
All of the fittings in this home seem to be in really good condition and it has clearly been loved and cared for.
And through the laundry to the rear is the huge backyard which is also typical of your Australian coastal holiday home – there is next to no garden, a couple of fruit trees and lawn to the fenceline!
From a landscape architect’s point of view, this seems like such a waste of great opportunity! There is so much space for a sprawling garden and the creation of different lawn areas (or outdoor rooms if you like).
However, you can see the reasoning with many of these homes used as holiday rentals and I suppose it appears easier to mow an expanse of lawn than water and tend to planted garden beds.
Having said all of that, I am a big fan of the lawn driveway!
So there you have it! Your chance to buy a classic MCM Aussie beach home and either move to Rosebud (which is not that far from the city) or use it as your very own holiday home!
